• price - can vary depending on how prior to travel you book
• (from checkmybus, book a westbahn train (through flix bus)
• the ticket is valid on ANY westbahn train that day - that is if you have a 19.30 train, but you miss that, you can also take the 2030train. or if you early, you can also take the 1830 train. no issues!

not sure if there are direct 'buses' or trains that ply from vienna to hallstatt! might want to check. it will only save you the change and some wait time.

• mode: train
• duration: close to 2hrs
• price: one way ticket from attnang puccheim - obertraun dachsteinhoehlen bahnhof (OBB) costs 12.50EUR
• if you are also planning a return the same day, and to avoid buying tickets throughout your journey once you reach Obertraun, better option is to buy a Tageskarte (day ticket) for 26.50EUR
• This includes your (train and bus) travel from:

What is not included, is the the ferry/boat ticket (2.50EUR one way) from the hallstatt train station to other side of the river to hallstatt (that is if you get down at teh hallstatt train station). to save this, you could just get down at obertraun dachsteinhoehlen bahnhof and take postbus543, which will drop you at hallstatt lahn station.
3. what you miss: the boat view while crossing the famous river!
• worth: yes, if the weather is not favourable!

1. Check timetable for postbus543 (from obertraun dachsteinhoehlen bahnhof to cable car station and back)
2. Check cable car timings (frequency is every 15 minutes, but make sure you know the timing for the LAST cable car down to take the postbus in time!)
3. Check ticket prices (only 5 finger is 30/. ALL included is close to 45/)
4. Note: The ferry timing from Hallstatt to halstatt train startion is aligned with the train timings leaving from hallstatt.

If the weather is good, one full day is required for 5 finger lookout. Also check out the caves if you like, shark thingy.. and a few others. Everything up there is worth a visit I think!

 

And half a day to 'see' hallstatt and the rest half to enjoy the beauty, doing nothing!
